Alongside the combat, you can find new weapons in the world, and possibly in the story. If you fail to defend yourself, you get a beating, and it feels like your fault, not the games, especially when you fight the final boss of the demo. The game rewards you for pacing yourself out in most situations, where parrying and dodging take the lead over attacking and killing. The combat feels extremely fluid, fun and engaging, and each battle you do never gets boring it feels right. When fighting in game, you can use a set of skills, in exchange for some of your stamina, to do a great deal of damage to enemies, but don't worry, as your stamina isn't used up with normal attacks and it does regenerate, or you can use a stamina mushroom or potion to speed up the process. The overall gameplay in the of Fenyx Rising is definitely inspired by Nintendo's 2017 release, "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" and Ubisoft's own 2018 game, "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey", the former having inspired the stamina, exploration and climbing systems and the overall experience of being able to use items in the world to complete puzzles, and the latter inspiring the combat, action skills and the UI of the menus. This isn't a bad thing, as it could be different in the main game, and the demo definitely highlights Fenyx Rising's strength the gameplay and combat. However, it seems that Fenyx, the protagonist, doesn't get much spotlight to showcase her character, at least in the demo, as the most talking comes from Zeus and Prometheus.
Considering how dark Greek mythology can actually be, this is an extremely welcoming and accessible way to tell these stories, as well as Ubisoft being able to add in their own takes on the Greek lore. The story is extremely light-hearted, with elements of comedy such as Zeus changing a "ferocious lion" into a bunch of roosters. These attacks also have their own skill, such as multiple spears launching you and enemy's from the ground, an explosive axe slam and a player-controlled arrow shot. Your skillset in the demo is a basic attack in the form of your sword, a heavy attack from your axe and a bow and arrow for ranged attacks. As a newly winged demi-god, Fenyx has extreme power to take on most beasts and creatures.
The story of the demo is set on a small island, which is home to the "Secret of the Gods", and this tale is being told by Prometheus and Zeus, who can change the events of the story by just mentioning what they believe really happened, in a similar way to how ancient Greek mythology changes depending on who told the myth. The demo I'll be reviewing is a Stadia exclusive and is free-to-play from 22nd October to the 29th October. The game is set to release on the 3rd of December 2020 on all major platforms. Developed by Ubisoft Quebec and published by Ubisoft, the game focuses on Fenyx, a Greek soldier who is on an adventure to save the gods from the titan Typhon, who's on a quest for revenge on Zeus. Immortals: Fenyx Rising is an upcoming action-adventure game with RPG and Exploration elements.
